Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley (CLUOV) is a dynamic, innovative organization that supports local adults with developmental disabilities. Our vision is to assist in building an inclusive community, where individuals with developmental disability are included in community life. The support we provide to individuals includes: assistance with employment, day supports, housing and independent living, community supports and respite care.

We are currently recruiting for a permanent full-time Assistant Community Living Worker to join our team to work night shifts from 12 midnight until 12 noon. This position is a combination of awake and sleep hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicating clearly with individuals, families, community members and CLUOV
  • Helping individuals with developmental disabilities to make their own decisions and build confidence
  • Being committed to an important role in the lives of people who rely on CLUOV for support
  • Promoting an individual’s well-being through: personal care, medication management, and other life skills
  • Always working in a safe manner and consistent in following CLUOV policies
  • Proactively contributing to the CLUOV team to make the organization the best it can be
  • Being respectful of the needs of individuals by being committed to the work schedule
Qualifications
The Assistant Community Living Worker is an integral role in someone’s life. You will need to have skills such as patience, calmness in difficult situations, and problem-solving abilities.  In short, you need to be a positive role model. In addition, the following will help you achieve success in this position:

  • Post-secondary education in the field of Human Services (i.e. Personal Support Worker)
  • Experience working with and supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • (Current) Certifications: First Aid, CPR, Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Screening)
  • Experience in contributing to a team environment while working independently
  • Bilingualism is an asset
Additional Information
The salary for this position is $12.55 for sleep hours and $17.62 – $18.46 for awake hours. In addition we offer a generous benefits package (OMERS pension plan, dental, health, etc.).
