The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is a registered charity with a provincial office in Stouffville. The Society supports communities throughout Ontario. We are currently recruiting for a Centre Manager at the Ontario SPCA Animal Centre in Pembroke. This is a one-year contract. This position is full-time for 12 months to cover an employee on maternity leave.

Position Summary

The Centre Manager is responsible and accountable for the overall operations of the branch, promotion of the Ontario SPCA’s mission and implementation of provincial initiatives within the centre and the surrounding community.




  • Develop and nurture relationships with volunteers, donors, suppliers, media and municipal government agencies
  • Promote public awareness of the branch and its services through the media and other marketing mediums
  • Plan, develop and execute various fundraising activities to increase revenue to the branch through innovative and effective means
  • Responsible for short-term and long-term planning, budgeting, staffing, volunteer management, fundraising, purchasing, animal care, and other related branch activities
  • You will be flexible to work weekends and evenings as required
  • Minimum of three years of experience in community outreach, fundraising and networking;
  • A post-secondary, business-related education or equivalent experience, as well as three years in a similar role with financial management, operational planning and staff supervision;
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and leadership skills will be critical to this position;
  • Proven experience in community relations and business marketing, volunteer management and media will be considered assets; good understanding of the community
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);

If considered, you must have a valid Class G driver’s licence, be able to provide and maintain a clean driver’s abstract and have no criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted.
