Pembroke Regional Hospital – Pembroke, ON

The Pembroke Regional Hospital requires one (1) Concurrent Specialist – Rent Supplement Housing Program to work in Mental Health Services – Renfrew County . This position is offered on a Full-time basis.

This position provides time limited rent supplement support and intensive clinical support, including addiction and mental health counselling, life skills coaching, vocational support and community integration, for persons living with addictions and/or mental illness who are demonstrating a readiness to pursue their recovery journey towards independent community living.

Applicants must be available to work all shifts including weekends.


College level Diploma specializing in Mental Health and Addictions counselling
Clinical certification as an Addiction Counsellor or currently working towards
Minimum 3 years experience working in a counselling/life skills coaching capacity in an addictions and community mental health community setting
Strong commitment to client service excellence
Knowledge of local, regional and provincial mental health and addictions services
Knowledge of best practices in concurrent mental health and substance use disorders (e.g. integrated/sequential treatment, motivational interviewing, and harm reduction)
Demonstrated competence in the use of standard assessment tools
Demonstrated ability to facilitate life skills and supportive counselling groups
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations and to demonstrate an understanding of cultural/diversity influences on health, benefits and behaviours
Demonstrated knowledge of the mental health and addictions continuum of care
Demonstrated collaborative skills in working with an interdisciplinary team
Demonstrated knowledge of vocational training/employment services and resources within Renfrew County
Demonstrated computer software application skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage own case files on an independent basis
Demonstrated ability to face complex and difficult situations
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Maintain a high level of professional ethics and confidentiality in all aspects of involvement with clients, family members, other agencies, and the community at large
Valid Class G Driver’s License
Access to a reliable vehicle with minimum $2,000,000.00 liability insurance to transport self and clients throughout Renfrew County
Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital
Bilingualism (English and French) is preferred
