Job Title: Controls and Instrumentation Supervisor Location: Pembroke, ON SUMMARY The Controls and Instrumentation Supervisor is responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing and maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery and processes. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills in order to effectively manage the Controls and Instrumentation Area. RESPONSIBILITIES Design, program and install instrumentation and control systems including process controls, DCS, data systems and PLCs using Allen Bradley or like software Develop new programs and logic when necessary to optimize existing processes targeting higher yields and minimizing downtime Troubleshoot and correct problems with instrumentation and control systems and provide technical support Test control system performance during in-house manufacturing Interface with real-time database applications to manage critical production information Analyze repairs and maintenance requirements in order to proactively address system weaknesses Develop validation documentation and implement validations plans, instrumentation and control systems Coordinate with Electrical and Process Engineers to review existing programming routines and modify or improve for optimization of yield/cycle time or reduce nuisance interruptions/program stalling Maintain the production network and PLC network hardware and software Design, program and update Wonder Ware HMI’s for operator use and functionality requirements Troubleshoot electrical, PLC and HMI systems Use Auto Cad to update/modify/create electrical schematics as well as line upgrades Support project proposals and estimations Assist with equipment selection and procurement Work with Vendors in searching for improvements to process and implementation of changes Document changes to process as well as work orders and purchasing in Maximo Support Maintenance troubleshooting Create a multi-tasking and multifunctional area through periodic training and written procedures On-call service and support Performs other duties as assigned Other Maintains respectful communication with co-workers and supervisory staff Familiar with the Company’s policies/processes and understands the impact of this position on thecompetitiveness and performance of the company Complies with and follows Health & Safety policies and programs Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering PEng registered in the Province of Ontario would be considered an asset 8-10 years of industrial experience in a manufacturing environment with broad based experience interacting with production, engineering and maintenance is preferred 3-5 years supervisory experience Skills: Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team Proven experience leading the design, programming, start-up, troubleshooting and validating of process control systems and instruments including PLC, DCS and HMI systems (Wonder Ware HMI and Historian) Hands on experience for configuring I/O’s in the control panel and on DCS, working knowledge of laying control wires from the device to the cabinet Strong computer experience using Auto Cad, Excel, Word Knowledge of PLCs (i.e. Allen Bradley software, RSLogix 5000 and 5500) Familiarity with IT/Networking, database applications and computer management is an asset Ability to read electrical schematics Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; strong technical writing skills Must have strong analytical and root cause problem solving capabilities Must have proven organizational and time management skills Must be task and result oriented Job Type: Full-time Required education:
