Job Title: Controls & Instrumentation (C&I)Technician Location: Pembroke, Ontario

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Controls & Instrumentation Supervisor, the C&I Technician will be responsible for supporting and maintaining a continuous production operation including routine preventative electrical maintenance, optimization and programming of PLC systems, instruments and equipment. The success candidate will also be diligent, accountable and responsible for ensuring the continued safe, efficient and effective operations of all equipment and fixtures utilized by the organization. RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide technical and automation support to manufacturing operations Perform investigation of manufacturing equipment deviations and anomalies related to automation and software Implement software changes and upgrades to improve equipment accuracy and runtime Assist in electrical documentation of changes and upgrades Run conduit and wire/rewire systems Provide technical support to maintenance staff Provide PLC and HMI programming support; troubleshooting and upgrading of automated process equipment Diagnose and repair issues with motors, controllers and PLCs Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings and follow work procedures and processes Respond quickly to emergency situations Utilize knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for improvements and savings Assist other maintenance staff in identifying and procuring equipment and parts necessary for daily maintenance requirements Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Industrial Electrician Certificate (442) of Qualification (Interprovincial Red Seal) preferred and/or Instrumentation and Control Technician (447) Certificate of Qualification or equivalent

Minimum 3-5 years direct experience programming, designing and maintaining industrial control systems in a fast paced wood or pulp & paper manufacturing environment

Skills:

Strong knowledge of process control systems and automation specifically Allen Bradley PLC software, RSLogix 5000 and 5500, and Wonderware HMI programming troubleshooting skills Familiarity with IT/Networking, database applications and computer management is an asset Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, drawings and specifications Excellent working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database management software, SQL Server and Web server software Strong communication skills both verbally and written Ability to work under pressure; self-starter Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and demanding environment Knowledge of safe operating procedures

WORK ENVIRONMENT / STRESS / PHYSICAL EFFORT

Work Environment:

Ability to work rotating 12 hour shifts to support a continuous manufacturing operation Noisy, dirty, dusty, hot and cold environment Steel-toed safety boots will be required Overtime may be required On-call servicing as required to support operations/
