Park Derochie is an Industrial construction contractor that predominantly caters to the oil, gas, petro-chemical and marine sectors. All of the divisions associated with each location pull manpower from a unionized Trade. As an example to this, the current project we are working on is called Suncor Fort Hills Secondary Extraction. The manpower-Trades people, who work for the company are from the Canadian Building Trades Unions. More Specifically Local 110, Local 8 and Local 222. Each of these specialized trades have an apprenticeship program that leads to a Journeyman Certificate.
Suncor Fort Hills is located in the municipality of Wood Buffalo, Alberta. We work a 14 days in, 7 days out (14 & 7) @ 10 hours per day. The project is a ‘hybrid’ of insulation techniques/ installation procedures, crossed with the application of fireproofing.
Entry level position within a multi-disciplinary company, direct experience to the industrial construction sector, hands on approach to the trades with technical training provided throughout the apprenticeship program. On-the-job training, benefits, and pension are also incorporated into your wage Package.
Starting wage is Approx $23.00/hr. The pay structure for EACH day is comprised 6.5 hours @ regular time and 3.5 hours @ Overtime.
This offer is intended to provide a jump start for individuals who are/ have left the Armed Forces who are interested in pursuing a second career in the Building trades.
This is a construction project- when the project is over (+/- 6 months) you will be an apprentice within a union. At that time you would be responsible to select another project to maintain employment
This is a Jump start into the trades, your accommodations and meals are provided at no cost. You will receive a pro-rated travel allowance if you are from out of province. (Approx $600.00/ shift of 14 & 7)

We are looking for 10 individuals to commit to the project. These 10 individuals, if selected, would be sponsored into a trade union, trained and meaningfully employed for the duration of the project. With the amount of experience the 10 individuals would receive, they will be able to make a well informed decision as to whether or not the Building trades is a second career choice, and be well on their way to completing the apprenticeship program.
Be 18 years of age or older
Be able to pass an Alcohol & drug test as per the Canadian Model
Be able to travel for work
Be committed to a 6 month term in the industrial Sector of construction
Be willing to learn and try something different on the forefront of the Energy Industry
