Generic Child Protection Workers

The Generic Child Protection Workers are entry level positions into child protection that will assist in training and coverage. The intended purpose of the positions will be to bring workers through the authorization process, if they are not authorized, while providing support and relief to current workers. The positions will carry smaller protection caseloads in accordance with authorization requirements.

General Responsibilities:

• Files will be determined where coverage is needed and assigned based on the level of training that has been achieved through the authorization process.
• Attend Authorization training with the goal of becoming an authorized protection worker, if not already authorized.
• Attend, as required, Agency committee meetings and external committee meetings.
• Attend, as required, team meetings and all-staff meetings
• Assist with special projects as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Performance Indicators:

• Maintain a high level of knowledge in regard to the scope of their practice and have a demonstrated ability to plan their work in a manner that allows for quality service provision.
• Demonstrate reliability, strong analytical ability and effective communication skills.
• Demonstrate an ability to be effective in assisting families in achieving positive outcomes.
• Demonstrate initiative and adaptability.
• Strive to enhance the development of others, possess leadership skills and a team approach to service provision and the execution of agency functions.

• BSW or MSW required
• Understanding of the CFSA
• Ability to collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Computer skills – knowledgeable about computer-based technologies relevant to report writing, the collection and maintenance of client information, data and other common office tasks
• Bilingualism is an asset
