Job Overview
Working in the community is a challenging and rewarding experience as you assist clients to continue to live at home by helping them with their daily personal care needs. Whether your clients are elderly, injured, special needs or recovering from surgery, you assist with everything from daily household activities, to emotional support and personal care. You have the flexibility to work on a full-time, part-time, or casual basis. Utilizing your skills in personal care you observe and report changes in client status. As a member of a team you participate in client specific meetings as well as engage in activities that can shape ParaMed’s care delivery processes. Key Accountabilities: Quality of Life : relieving caregivers, teaching clients how to live independently, advocating for client independence, encouraging clients to try things to increase independence, playing games, talking, reading Reporting on Client Status : reporting to supervisor and clerical coordinator on client status, making suggestions on client care requirements, reporting abuse or unsafe environments Client & Staff Safety : Uses appropriate and safe equipment, protective devices and/or clothing Report to ParaMed or Supervisor any contravention of the legislation, standards, or policies & procedures, e.g. defective equipment or hazards in the work environment Be aware of the consequences of breaches of safety policies and procedures; e.g. violations are subject to progressive discipline up to and including dismissal.
