Planer Operator and Labourers

Duties and Responsibilities:

Planer Operator:

• Set up and adjust saw equipment and replace blades or bands using wrenches, gauges and other hand tools
• Operate equipment to sort and stack lumber by length and thickness, move stacks to storage areas or drying kilns, and feed lumber through planers
• Monitor movement of lumber to ensure cuts are made according to specifications, and production reports
• Clean and lubricate sawmill equipment.
• Set and sharpen knives
• Set and run planer
• Other duties as assigned

Planer Labourers:

• Carrying and stacking lumber
• General mill clean up
• Work outside year-round with direct exposure to the elements
• Contribute to keeping work facilitates clean and organized
• Work safely and collaboratively with co-workers at all time
• Other duties as required

• Must have previous sawmill experience
• Able to meet the physical requirements of the job
• Excellent communication skills to ensure work is completed on time and with the quality we expect
• Commitment to maintain a safe work environment
• Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work
• Forklift certification
