We are currently recruiting for a temporary School Support Counsellor at Highview Public School. This position is 20% of full-time (7 hours per week) effective immediately and to June 30, 2021.

 

The School Support Counsellor will provide school-based prevention and intervention services in elementary or secondary schools to address social and emotional and behavioural barriers to learning. Incumbents will be assigned to a caseload at the elementary school level.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a two-year community college diploma in the social services field (e.g. CYW, SSW, BSW, BST), or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the board
  • Experience working within a school setting is essential
  • Experience supporting students with attendance issues and child and youth mental health issues would be considered an asset
