Term: Permanent Part-time
Hours: 17.5 hours per week
Salary: $17.24
Benefits: 6% vacation pay with each pay

Reporting to the Community Engagement Coordinator at the Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre, the Special Needs Inclusion Programmer is primarily responsible for the development and facilitation of educational, integration and exceptional needs programming to military families of Garrison Petawawa as delegated by the Community Engagement Coordinator.
 Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent;
 Degree or Diploma in Education, Social Sciences or Human Services field;
 2-3 years’ experience working with exceptional needs families and social or human services field where required.
Core Competencies:
Under the guidance of the Community Engagement Coordinator, the Special Needs Inclusion Programmer will possess the following:
(a) High energy level with a strong work ethic and a demonstrated ability to conduct one`s self in calm and professional manner when dealing with the public.
(b) Proven leadership ability with demonstrated success developing teams and working collaboratively with both staff and community partners.
(c) Ability to create, develop, and facilitate group workshops for exceptional needs families;
(d) Ability to facilitate among a diverse group inclusive of volunteers;
(e) Ability to work independently and complete assignments;
(f) Display high level of initiative with minimal supervision;
(g) Excellent communication skills in English (French is a definite asset);
(h) Sensitivity and understanding of the unique challenges of military lifestyle;
(i) Sensitivity and tact in dealing with people; and
(j) Ability to work well within a team environment.
Special Requirements
(a) Willingness to work flexible hours. (Flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the families we serve).
(b) Ability to ensure effective overall administration practices, present information and respond to questions from supervisors, staff and the general public
(c) Ability to prepare written reports, correspondence and maintain accurate records
(d) Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
(e) Proficiency in MS Office and navigating the Internet is required.
