Job Overview

Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, items listed below at both the CRL and Off-Site Logistics warehousing and receiving areas:

  • Operate computer systems associated with distribution centres. This will include but not limited to Oracle and Microsoft Office applications;
  • Follow processes and procedures related to the receiving of approx. 2000 line items per month, including radioactive material, with strict adherence to requirements including but not limited to Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act;
  • Follow processes and procedures related to pick, pack verification and issuing of material using Oracle, amounting to approx. 4000 line items per month;
  • Provide impromptu service to walk-in customers requiring assistance and support for material requests;
  • Follow processes and procedures related to shipping of material from CNL, with strict adherence to regulatory requirement including to but not limited to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act;
  • Follow processes and procedures related to storage and handling of materials;
  • Daily interaction with customers to meet custom metal order requests;
  • Safe operation of industrial material handling equipment, including but not limited to Bomar horizontal saw, Scothman cut saw, and overhead bridge crane;
  • Safe operation of delivery truck, various forklifts, hand trucks and material carts for movement and delivery of materials;
  • Safe operation of various tools and equipment associated, crating and un-crating, packaging and palletizing of materials;
  • Provide site escort for random incoming shipments, including bulk CO2 and CO deliveries;
  • Coordinate and support off-site movement and deliveries of material;
  • Coordination and delivery of all material issued from B457 to on site locations, including the coordination with security for x-ray activities;
  • Practice sound inventory control principles, including cycle counts, first in first out inventory mythology, shelf life, lot # control, ASME storage requirements, and economic order quantities;
  • Observes good housekeeping and safety practices in all areas;
  • Assist in training of other employees;
  • Aids in promoting process improvement;
  • May be required to provide emergency response. (e.g. stay on site during evacuation);
  • May be required to fill the role of building Officer in Charge or Emergency Steward;
  • Required to provide support for emergent type situations. (e.g. Site evacuation, Radioactive parcel receipt);
  • Perform any other task pertaining to operational expectations of a Stores Attendant;
  • Must be able to wear a full-face respirator;
  • Continual promotion of process improvement and the identification of opportunities for improvement;
  • Must be able to obtain a Level II security clearance; and
  • Performs any other tasks that may be required in the performance of normal Stores Attendant duties as per operational requirements.
  • In addition to S1 duties, a S2 Stores Attendant will be required to perform the following advanced functions:
  • At the direction of the Stores Lead Hand, coordination and delegation of various job duties to Stores Attendants when required for operations reasons;
  • Timely and accurate communication with all Logistics staff to ensure urgent or special requests are appropriately addressed;
  • Sound knowledge of stores stock material, amounting to approx. 20,000 items. This is a vital responsibility in servicing the customer in a timely manner. On occasion, walk-up customers request assistance in identify a part they the looking for, relying on the Stores Attendant to locate the specific part in Stores without the assistance of Oracle;
  • Sound knowledge of ASME Section III receiving, storage and issuing procedures and requirements. The receiving, storage and issue of ASME material is essential to the pressure boundary program and associated work at CNL. Adherence to the requirements defined in NQA-1 is critical to ensure chain of custody and material degradation is not compromised at any time while in the control of Logistics;
  • Sound knowledge of dangerous goods receiving, handling, storage and issuing procedures. Dangerous goods are received daily at the SRF, a sound understanding and application of the regulations and procedures is essential to aid in the safe handling and storage of dangerous goods. In addition, constant coordination and communication with traffic, customs, and shipping staff if essential;
  • Administration of the Logistics Tag & Store warehouse management system. CNL offers and administers a Tag & Store service for various pieces of equipment. The current database account for several hundred pieces of unique items, all tracked in the database to ensure accountability and identification. In addition, the transportation coordination with both CNL and contractor services is required;
  • Coordination and control of the Maintenance Engineering Assessment (MEA) material process, including the receiving, kitting, control, issuing of MEA material to trades. In addition, an advanced operational knowledge of Avantis, Oracle and the MEA database is essential. The MEA process is critical in the execution of work at CNL. This process will entail the kitting, control and coordination of several hundred work packages at any one time. In addition, required is the coordination of weekly work packages between the trades, the MEA area and the on-site lock up facility, and numerous special or urgent requests as they arise; and
  • Coordination with buyers to ensure QA documentation for incoming inspection meets the Special Purchasing Clauses as defined in the purchase order in Oracle and resolving receiving discrepancies.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Secondary School Graduation or the equivalent in technical training and/or related experience,
  • Must be able to obtain a Level II security clearance.

Experience

Warehouse experience is considered an asset.

Abilities and Skills

To support the activities required to operate a Logistics operation inclusive of distribution, warehousing, inventory management, order fulfillment, shipping and receiving.

Job/Industry Specific Knowledge

  • Must have completed or be capable of successfully completing the following training:
  • All mandatory CNL training requirement;
  • CRL site evacuation plan;
  • Radiation protection Group 3;
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods;
  • Forklift;
  • Safe indoor hoist and crane operation;
  • Building emergency procedures;
  • Central Stores site wide emergency procedures;
  • Completion of stores attendant specific On-the-Job training modules; and
  • Completion of mandatory Stores Attendant specific training as described by the Logistics Training Plan.
  • Must have knowledge or be able to acquire and maintain knowledge of:
  • Automated Procurement System (Oracle) and become familiar with the operation of related computer programs and equipment, including the efficient use of handheld mobile devices;
  • Must be capable of adapting to changing priorities in the workplace;
  • Must be a team player and possess good communication skills;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license;
  • Must comply with all safety regulations; and
  • Must be able to wear a full-face respirator.
