Description:
The Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre (OVWRC) offers garbage and recycling services in the Upper Ottawa Valley. OVWRC opened in 2002 adjacent to the existing landfill site which has been operational since 1977. The Centre’s operating areas include: landfill, construction and demolition, material recycling facility, composting facility or hazardous and electronic waste depot.

The Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre is currently recruiting for a Truck & Coach Mechanic. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this position provides general maintenance of the Centre’s vehicle fleet, heavy equipment, processing equipment, buildings, property and general infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Works in partnership with Maintenance Team to perform required maintenance of vehicles, equipment, buildings and property as per standard operating practices to ensure that equipment is maintained and that serious delays in operations are prevented.
  • Ensures appropriate records related to daily equipment servicing and incident reports are completed.
Qualifications
  • High school education or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Licensed 310T Certified Technician.
  • Would be responsible for various maintenance duties, documentation, regularly scheduled maintenance.
  • Able to perform mechanical, hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting.

The following would be considered an asset:

  • Experience in Heavy Equipment and Stationary Equipment Maintenance
  • Class DZ Driver’s License with a satisfactory driver’s abstract
  • Automotive Service Technician License

Other Information:

This position is generally 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm. The salary includes extensive dental and health care benefits, OMERS pension and boot allowance.
