Description:
The Town of Laurentian Hills supports two rural library branches in Renfrew County, serving a population of approximately 2,960. The two library branches act as social interaction points as well as resource centres in the community.

 

Applications are being accepted for the position of Branch Librarian in the Chalk River Library. This position is 20 hours per week and includes evening and weekends.

The Branch Librarian reports to the CEO and has the following responsibilities:

  • General responsibilities over the operations of the branch library
  • Dealing personally with the daily tasks necessary to run the library
  • Managing circulation, cataloguing, selection (i.e. books, DVD’s, etc.)
  • Handling patron inquiries on programs, branch operations and more
  • Providing outreach
  • Overseeing volunteer helpers
Qualifications
  • The preferred candidate will hold formal library education such as a library technician diploma; Excel certification from the Ontario Library Service, or equivalent post-secondary qualifications.
  • The candidate should also have experience in a public library setting
  • Knowledge of current computer applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
