JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the Civil/ Architectural /Mechanical Technician position is; (under the supervision of a senior technical designer) to prepare Civil, Architectural, Structural, and Mechanical drawings, sketches, and figures. The information to prepare the drawings will be based on field walk-downs; marked-up field drawings, field change requests, and sketches provided by engineers or senior design techs. The vast majority of the work is expected to come from the work executed at the CRL site; however, increasing demand has also been identified from G-1, Douglas Point, and NPD.

DUTIES

Reporting to the D&ER Technical Section Leader, the employee’s duties will include:

  • Perform field walk-downs to obtain design info and confirm the scope of the design request
  • Preparation of CAD drawings for Civil, Architectural, Structural, and Mechanical systems
  • Preparation of various documents to support work plans such as figures, maps, diagrams, and illustrations
  • Revision of existing CAD
  • Preparation of various Engineering documents including Field Walk Down Reports, Risk Assessments, Design Plans, etc;
  • Preparation of hand sketches
  • Act as design engineering representative
  • Act as design engineering “job leader”
  • Use and conform to the ECC process

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and normally has more than 3 years pertinent progressive experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education, and/or training.
  • Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position, or equivalent formal education.

Specific Skills/Competencies:

    • Must possess a working knowledge of design drafting techniques and practice.
    • Must be capable of producing neat, legible, and accurate drawings in a reasonable time.
    • Must possess a working knowledge of mathematics.
    • Must possess knowledge of standard construction equipment, processes, and materials in both civil and architectural fields
    • Proficiency in both written and oral communication is required.
    • The initiative, motivation, and good people skills to work with peers as well as both internal and external customers in a team environment.
    • Knowledge of the CNL Design Office Manual (DOM)
    • Knowledge of the CNL Engineering Change Control (ECC) Process
