Communications Specialist

The Renfrew County and District Health Unit has an opportunity for a temporary, Communications Specialist. This is a full-time position for up to 18 months.

Reporting to the Manager, Health Promotion, the Communications Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of communications functions in accordance with the requirements of the Ontario Public Health standards and the agency’s policies. Key functions include public relations, risk communication, social media and assisting with the development of effective public health communication resources.  The Communications Specialist promotes and maintains good public relations for the Renfrew County and District Health Unit.

• An undergraduate degree in communications, health promotion, public relations, journalism, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
• A minimum three to five years of experience in communications, health promotion, public relations, or journalism;
• Previous experience working in a health unit is an asset;
• Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset;
• A current criminal records check;
• Proof that you have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
