Reporting to the Community Housing Supervisor, the Community Housing Representative will work within an integrated team of Community Services professionals. The primary focus of the Community Housing Representative is to respond to inquiries from tenants, the public, and colleagues. This position also provides administrative support regarding property operations and community housing programs.

Qualifications:

  • Two-year post-secondary education in a social services or related human services field, or combination of social services experience and education.
  • Knowledge and experience with housing laws and available resources.
  • Experience with financial administration and data report preparation.
  • Excellent ability to adapt to changing priorities and in adjusting work plans accordingly.
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to self-motivate.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities combined with written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify key issues in problem solving and implement effective and creative solutions.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers, including MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, creating reports, and online research.
  • Must demonstrate corporate, department and position competencies (Honesty & Integrity, Professionalism, Client Service Orientation, Focus on Results, Communication).
  • Valid driver license and access to a vehicle is mandatory.
  • Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable Provincial and Municipal Acts. Performs the responsibilities of the position consistent with the Operational policies of the County of Renfrew.
  • Performs receptionist duties for the Housing Corporation and administrative support duties.
  • Inputs all pre-authorized payment data, handles money, financial tracking and reports on tenants along with rent changes and rent adjustments using a property management system.
  • Prepares reports and Landlord Tenant Board forms.
  • Performs other related duties.
  • Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reports unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety. Follows all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.
