We are recruiting for a Deputy Clerk. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Reporting to the Town Clerk-Manager of Legislative Services, the Deputy Clerk will perform the statutory duties and functions of the Clerk as required, with a specific focus on coordination of boards, committees and records management. Responsibilities include:

  • day-to-day administrative coordination;
  • preparing by-laws, resolutions, and correspondence;
  • conducting research;
  • report writing and editing;
  • attending meetings;
  • assisting in municipal elections;
  • completing special projects and assignments;
  • acting as the Deputy Division Registrar for Vital Statistics; and
  • providing confidential administrative support.
  • Degree or advanced diploma in public administration, political science, legal studies or a related discipline.
  • Three to five years of relevant municipal experience, including experience dealing with municipal committees.
  • Completion of a municipal administration program with a preference for a diploma in municipal administration.
  • Completion of AOMC and AMP designations, or willingness to obtain.
  • Completion of parliamentary procedures coursework or related experience.
  • Strong records management knowledge and experience.
  • Proficiency in a Microsoft Office environment, including database management skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and discretion in handling matters of a confidential or politically sensitive nature to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, communication, multi-tasking, interpersonal, time management, report writing, problem-solving and minute-taking skills.
  • High level of initiative and independent judgment, and the ability to work as a key member of the team with minimum supervision.
  • Hold a valid Ontario driver’s license
