Job Description
We are hiring for 3 Student Summer positions in the role of a Developmental Service Worker.  This is a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities, ensuring they receive the care and assistance needed to thrive in their daily lives. This position requires a compassionate and dedicated individual who can effectively communicate and build relationships with clients. The
Developmental Service Worker will assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and provide a safe environment for individuals to grow and develop.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in various settings.
Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
Foster a positive and encouraging environment that promotes independence and self-esteem.
Communicate effectively with others to understand their needs and preferences.
Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to develop individualized plans.
Implement therapeutic activities that enhance social skills, communication abilities, and overall well-being.
Maintain accurate documentation
Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a clean and safe environment

Job Requirements
Experience & Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have completed at least 1 year in a post-secondary program in human services, such as development service worker, social work, police foundations, early childhood education, psychology, mental health and addictions, nursing, health sciences, etc. and be returning to school in the Fall.

Demonstrated, leadership and communication skills
Experience in caregiving or working with persons with disabilities is highly desirable, but not necessary
Knowledge of best practices for medication administration
Personal care experience, or willing to be trained.
A compassionate attitude towards helping others achieve their fullest potential

A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are essential to assist those supported.  Mileage expenses are reimbursed
