Department: Information Services Team

Location: Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre (PMFRC)
(Petawawa Ontario is in Eastern Ontario, 170 kilometers northwest of Ottawa)

Position Type: Indefinite Full-time Contract (to start April 2023)

Work Schedule:
37.5 hours per week
Monday – Friday 8:00 – 4:30 (Occasional Evenings will be required)

Salary: $18.42 – $21.99 / hr

The Role(s)

Under the direction of the PMFRC Volunteer Specialist the Information Services Assistant facilitates the delivery of intake and offers front-line support services. They will provide information, and assistance and facilitate referrals to service providers and mental health professionals, as required.

The Information Services Assistant will input, review, and maintain client intake and family registration data in a Client Relationship Management System (Penelope). They will facilitate the integration of newly posted families into various community resources doing a warm handover with the family and provider as needed. In addition, they will research and liaise with community service providers to identify local community programs, services, and activities that meet the needs of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) families.

Qualifications

  • College Diploma in Social Services, Mental Health, Human Services, or a related field
  • A demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience, AND several years of experience in human/family services providing frontline support.

Certification / Licenses
The following certifications/licenses will be considered an asset:

  • CPR & First Aid
  • Mental Health First Aid

Experience Requirements

  • In conducting, client needs assessments for referral
  • In maintaining databases and/or spreadsheets
  • In data entry, record-keeping, and retrieval techniques
  • In working with a cross-section of the community
  • In providing front-line support, responding to inquiries and community concerns
  • In non-violent crisis intervention
  • In preparing reports
  • In researching, establishing, sustaining, and fostering a network of community contacts and partnerships
  • In data collection and statistical analysis
  • In providing emotional support

Conditions of Employment

  • The requirement to be fully vaccinated (two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine).
  • Adhere to all PMFRC policies and procedures including policies regarding privacy code and confidentiality.
  • Participate/ assist with all special events when required.
  • Provide proof of any applicable registration with the respective regulatory body if applicable.
  • Occasional extended workday and/or occasional evening or weekend as required.
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal record check, obtain an enhanced reliability security clearance, and vulnerable sector screening (current within 6 months).
  • Valid Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle for work-related travel and requisite driver’s insurance.
  • Travel within the County of Renfrew.
  • Thorough understanding of Canadian Armed Forces communities, systems, and policies to effectively assist families in accessing appropriate services and supports.
