Part-Time Municipal By-Law Officer

Salary: 19$/hour
Shifts: Rotating, three (3) shifts of eight (8) hours a week


Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – Municipal Enforcement Services (MLEO) provides direct assistance and support to the community in enforcing directed By-Laws from the Town of Petawawa, while also assisting all other MLEOs in accomplishing their respective compliance/enforcement objectives. Performs parking enforcement activities on an as-needed basis. Assists in the delivery of service of required documents such as notices, orders, and summonses, and participates in special project blitzes to obtain greater compliance within the City of Petawawa.

Commissionaires are looking for candidates who:

  • Hold a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence with a clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Can complete the Municipal Law Enforcement course (completed or ability to complete)
  • Have Basic computer skills (Email, Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Hold a Police Foundations / Community Justice Services diploma or equivalent, completed or in the process considered an asset

The successful candidate must have the ability to:

  • Obtain a Secret security clearance
  • Work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
  • Provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified)
  • Successfully undergo a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
  • Complete the MLEO training course or its equivalent within 30 days of commencing employment
  • attend court sessions via Zoom and/or in person
  • Walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time
