PEER SUPPORT WORKER, COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma
• One-year recent experience living and/or working in the Mental Health System
• Previous experience in a team-oriented environment
• Consumer of the Mental Health System
• Ability to function with groups of clients as well as individuals
• Basic client care techniques (e.g. hygiene, nutrition, safety) and other daily living techniques (household management, illness management, social/recreation/leisure activities)
• Knowledge of local community resources in order to facilitate client access to social, recreational, clinical and transportation services
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated computer software application skills
• Valid Class G Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle with minimum $2,000,000.00 liability insurance to transport self and clients throughout Renfrew County
• Good knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation and relevant sections of legislation (i.e. Mental Health Act, Human Rights Code, Landlord and Tenant Act)
• Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
• College Diploma or Degree in a related social services field is an asset
• Recent experience working in a counseling capacity or in a community mental health program setting or related field(s) is an asset
• WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) training is an asset
• Must have demonstrated the ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital
• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
