Riverview Heights Retirement Residence is an independent living seniors’ residence that opened in 2008. We provide a home-like setting with an open and friendly culture that allows residents and families to feel valued, safe and secure. Riverview Heights encourages independence while providing residents and their families the comfort of knowing our caring staff is there to help if needed.

Riverview Heights is currently recruiting for a Personal Support Worker (PSW). This is a part-time, permanent position.

Personal Support Workers are essential members of the care team. Under the supervision of registered staff, the Personal Support Worker is responsible for activities of daily living, while preserving dignity, individuality and respect.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide personal care, laundry, homemaking, and companionship for contracted care clients as outlined on care plans or as requested by the resident
  • Promote enhanced services to encourage residents to age-in-place in their own home
  • Process documentation for resident records and the department as required
  • Liaise with resident families, and other agencies as instructed
  • Deliver exceptional customer service
  • Comply with public health, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, the Employment Standards Act, and other pertinent legislation and corporate policies
  • A valid Personal Support Worker certificate or a combination of experience and education
  • A self-motivated individual with good decision-making abilities
  • Demonstrated skills in dementia memory care and/or possession of a gentle persuasive approach certificate
  • Experience in the care of the elderly
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Empathy for and the ability to understand and verbalize with residents
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the Retirement Homes Act and how it applies to care service standards
  • Excellent attendance
