Social Workers work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act, the Public Hospitals Act, and the standards set by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service. In keeping with the Hospital’s Mission, Vision, Values, policies, and procedures, Social Workers provide professional care to patients. Within the context of CAPA -Care and Partnership Approach, the selected candidate will provide intake and screening assessments, service plans and recommendations, and offer brief psychotherapy interventions. The candidate will be part of a workgroup tasked to develop regional coordinated access to mental health and addiction services.
REQUIREMENTS:
  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work
  •  Registered as a Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
  •  Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in counseling (Individual, family, and group) or in a community mental health setting or related field
  • Demonstrated competencies in suicide risk assessment and safety planning,
  •  Demonstrated competencies with Motivational Interviewing skills and the application of a brief psychotherapy model,
  •  Demonstrated ability to provide intervention within a virtual environment
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct psychosocial assessments and provide individual and group counseling services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social and health system resources and services
  • Demonstrated and proven ability to work in a collaborative care model with all members of the healthcare team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully in an oral and written format with patients, the public, colleagues, and other health disciplines
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education activities supporting ongoing professional learning in social work
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to meet attendance standards of the Hospital
  • Bilingualism is an asset
