The successful candidate will join a small and dedicated team of tactical aviation professionals involved in providing CH147F helicopter training in the DND Training Centre at 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, CFB Petawawa. Depending on the candidate’s interest, we are open to hiring on a full-time, part-time, or contingent worker basis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide all aspects of training support including courseware support, database change review, scenario development and lesson plan changes, configuration management and assist in standardization of courseware
  • Work closely with maintenance and other training centre support to DND, this includes implementation and update of lesson plans that will form the basis for the conduct of training. You may also assist in training the RCAF instructional cadre on the training suite (“train-the-trainer”)
  • Assist in the clearance of snags and validation of updates to our simulation suite of 3 x Flight Devices and 1 x Gunnery Simulator
  • Provide training expertise during the proposal generation process, primarily for Continuous Improvement initiatives designed to enhance our training environment
  • Function as Training Expert on other assigned projects related to aircrew training systems
  • Assist in the definition of training solutions in terms of the mix of training devices, training media, delivery/management mechanisms and training support organizations
  • Support to marketing for prospective projects


  • Graduate of military flight training program as a RW pilot with the Canadian Forces or a NATO nation
  • Recent experience as a qualified military helicopter pilot, tandem rotor experience strongly recommended, CH-47 Chinook experience preferred
  • Operational experience and knowledge of customer tactics, techniques, and procedures an asset
  • Experience as a military helicopter instructor pilot is preferable
  • Experience using synthetic training devices during pilot training and instructional time preferable; flight simulator instructional time preferred
  • English written and spoken, French is an asset.
  • MANDATORY: Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or with a valid Work Permit
  • MANDATORY: Must be able to meet the requirements of the Canada Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and in certain cases, ITAR requirements.
  • MANDATORY: Physically able to work in confined spaces
