Indigenous Geographic is a company that specialize in producing documentary and feature films, e-learning tools, and commercial and corporate videos. We are experienced at capturing and documenting Indigenous oral history, working with Indigenous communities, residential school survivors, governments, corporations, and nonprofits.
We are seeking a creative and skilled Videographer and Editor to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time position.
The candidate will excel in both capturing high-quality video content and editing into engaging, polished visuals. With a strong understanding of video production and editing software, excellent storytelling abilities, and a passion for creating impactful video content, this role offers the opportunity to shape compelling narratives through visual media.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, set up, and operate video recording equipment for a range of projects, including interviews, podcasts, and live events.
- Capture high-quality footage, ensuring proper framing, lighting, and audio.
- Scout locations and determine the optimal setups for shoots, both in-studio and on-location.
- Edit raw footage into cohesive and visually compelling videos, maintaining a high degree of creativity and professionalism.
- Integrate stakeholder feedback to refine and enhance video projects.
- Ensure seamless integration of audio and video components, particularly for video podcast episodes.
- Add visual effects, graphics, and animations to elevate the overall quality of videos.
- Perform colour correction and grading to maintain consistency and a professional appearance.
- Optimize content for various platforms, including podcast channels and social media.
- Bring a creative perspective to video podcast production, with a focus on engaging visuals that enhance storytelling.
- Collaborate with podcast hosts and producers to design visually appealing episodes.
- Ensure technical excellence in audio-video synchronization and content delivery.
- Work closely with producers, directors, and creative team members to bring concepts to fruition.
- Actively contribute to brainstorming sessions and project planning meetings.
- Maintain clear communication with team members to ensure smooth project workflows.
- Organize and manage project files systematically for easy access and reference.
- Maintain version control and consistent file naming conventions.
- Stay current with the latest trends, techniques, and software in video production and editing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to video and podcast production.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
- Adapt to evolving project requirements and timelines with flexibility and efficiency.
- Review final edits to ensure they meet quality standards, including visual continuity, audio clarity, and overall coherence.

- Proven experience as a videographer and editor, with a strong portfolio showcasing video podcasting expertise.
- Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
- Strong understanding of videography techniques, including camera operation, lighting, and sound design.
- Creative storytelling skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Knowledge of motion graphics and animation is an asset.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel.
