St. Timothy’s Evangelical Lutheran Church was established in 1957. We are a welcoming and compassionate church, nurturing our Christian faith and reaching out to others.

We are recruiting for a Youth & Youngster Coordinator. This a part-time position working up to 30 hours per month.

The Youth & Youngster Coordinator is responsible for supporting the faith development programs for youngsters (children aged 4 to 12) and youth (grades 7 to 12). This role facilitates an active youth group that provides opportunities for youth to grow in their relationship with God, to build friendships, and to work together with the congregation to serve the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the youngster’s program (Sunday school) and confirmation classes and attend from time to time
  • Get to know the youngsters, youth families, friends and Sunday School teachers
  • Plan the Christmas program, PA day program and Vacation Bible School for the youngsters and youth
  • Create a welcoming, fun and enthusiastic environment for youth to connect, grow and live out their faith through service to others and build friendships
  • Encourage youth to invite their friends to youth activities to grow the group and expand the St. Timothy’s ministry
  • Prepare monthly events for the youth and their friends and publicize these events in the church (bulletins, newsletter, webpage, Facebook, etc.)
  • Organize occasional church worship services led by the youth
  • Communicate in timely and effective ways with Pastor, parents, youth and church staff
  • Maintain appropriate records in a confidential manner

Qualifications
  • A personal commitment to Christ and some knowledge of the Lutheran tradition
  • A passion for inspiring youth and building relationships
  • Respect for youngsters and youth with awareness of child and youth development
  • Strong organization, planning and communication skills, including computer and social media skills
  • A self-starter and able to work independently
  • A team player
  • Standard First Aid, CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training or be willing to obtain
  • Minimum grade 12 diploma
  • Must have a police vulnerable sector check verification
