Counsellor

We are currently recruiting for a Counsellor. This is a full-time position working 35 hours per week. The main work location is Pembroke but you could be available to work in the Renfrew location at least one day per week.

Responsibilities:

• Counsel clients and prepare case notes
• Develop and implement counselling care plans by conducting individual counselling sessions
• Collect and manage case information, maintaining accurate client files in our database
• Manage the client log and monitor the intake phone
• May participate in community outreach

• A minimum of a post-graduate college diploma in social service work, mental health, or addiction studies.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act, privacy health legislation, and other relevant laws.
• A minimum of five years of counselling experience.
• Ability to set short-term objectives and utilize a solution-focused approach.
• Experience managing high-risk cases, including clients who may pose a threat to themselves or others.
• Strong knowledge of community resources and experience working with individuals.
• Excellent time-management skills with the ability to manage a large caseload.
• High level of professionalism and adherence to ethical standards of conduct.
• Successful criminal record vulnerable sector search.
