Location: Petawawa, Ontario
Salary: $20.60-$26.51 per hour
Description:
Bamoonzhe Daycare opened in April 2023 in Petawawa with a goal of providing high-quality childcare for the county and sharing some indigenous teachings. We are in partnership with the Bonnechere Algonquin First Nation to provide childcare and we are attached to the Herman Street Public School.

 

We are recruiting for an Educator. This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement activities that follow children’s developmental needs and interests
  • Create and maintain a high-quality safe environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of the children
  • Observe and document children’s developmental milestones, interests, and needs
  • Develop and implement a best practice program, in line with “How Does Learning Happen,” that supports and promotes the four foundations: well-being, engagement, expression, and belonging alongside the Early Learning for Every Child Today
  • Provide a daily balance of active and quiet, indoor and outdoor, and individual and group activities
  • Plan a curriculum by implementing Indigenous teachings that include the Seven Grandfathers
  • Maintain an organized space, equipment, and materials
  • Support children through each domain of development
  • Ensure program goals and standards are being met.
  • Work closely with Renfrew County Integration Services
  • Ensure incident reports are filled out completely and documented
  • Ensure positive communication with staff, children and families
  • Contribute to the ongoing operations of the centre
Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Familiarity with all legislation according to the Child Care and Early Years Act of Ontario
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Proficiency in MS Office and navigating the internet
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
  • Clear vulnerable sector check
  • 1-3 years of working in childcare is an asset
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator is an asset
Additional Information
We offer three weeks of paid vacation during daycare closures and a health and dental benefit plan after completing a six-month probationary period.
