Description:
Bamoonzhe Day Care opened in April 2023 in Petawawa with a goal of providing high-quality childcare for the county and sharing some indigenous teachings. We are in partnership with the Bonnechere Algonquin First Nation to provide childcare and we are attached to the Herman Street Public School.

 

We are recruiting for an Educator. This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday.

 

The Educator is responsible for the delivery of core program services including:

  • Developing and implementing a best practice program, in line with “How Does Learning Happen?” that supports and promotes the four foundations: well-being, engagement, expression, and belonging.
  • Planning and implement activities that follow children’s developmental needs
  • Planning a curriculum by implementing Indigenous teachings that include the seven grandfathers
  • Supporting children through physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development
  • Creating and maintaining a high-quality, safe environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
  • Observing and documenting children’s developmental milestones, interests, and needs
  • Promoting open communication with staff and families
  • Supporting children in the development of their self-help skills and independence
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with co-workers, management, and families
  • Attending staff meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Working in partnership to maintain cleanliness and organization of classroom materials and centre
  • Keeping up-to-date with daily requirements, observations, ministry-regulated documents, and ELECT learning stories
  • Working collaboratively with a large team
  • Assisting the supervisor in daily operations
Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral
  • Experience working in childcare
  • Registered Early Childhood Education is an asset
  • Standard First Aid and CPR level C
  • Clear vulnerable sector check
  • Able to operate with flexibility within a busy daycare setting
  • Availability to work between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm
Additional Information
We offer three weeks of paid vacation during daycare closures after completing a six-month probationary period.
