Located approximately 150 kilometers northwest of Ottawa, Pembroke Regional Hospital (PRH) delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services to a population of approximately 55,000 residents. With the dedicated support of 750 staff members, an engaged physician community and hundreds of volunteers, PRH provides acute services in emergency and intensive care, medical-surgical care, acute mental health, orthopaedics and obstetrics.

The hospital has a full range of rehabilitation services, is the designated district stroke centre for the region, and provides community-based mental health services throughout Renfrew County.

We are recruiting for a Manager, Health Records. This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday.

The Manager of Health Records, Admitting and Patient Registration is responsible for managing all aspects of the hospital’s health records information service, transcription services, patient admitting and registration services and for overseeing the delivery of telecommunications and mail to the hospital in accordance with legislation. This role is responsible for all aspects of health record lifecycle management.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a three-year diploma in health information management or health sciences
  • Experience, formal training, performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements
  • Experience working as a chief privacy officer or freedom of information officer is an asset
  • A minimum of three years of experience in health care or a related field
  • A minimum of one year of formal supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in oral and written formats with patients, public, colleagues and other health disciplines
  • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Effective teambuilding and coaching skills
  • Commitment to patient and employee safety
  • Experience working with unions and union contracts
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • An understanding of formal and informal systems in an organizational environment
  • Experience in continuous quality improvement
  • Valid class G driver’s license
  • Proficiency with a variety of computer software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • The ability to meet the attendance standards of the hospital
  • Able to embody the LEAN ideology by actively and continually seeking opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Bilingualism is preferred (French and English)
