THE ROLE
Under the supervision of the Meat Department Supervisor, the Meat Cutter cuts, trims and prepares standard cuts of meat for sale to customers using hand tools and power equipment such as grinder, cubing machine and power saw. They shape laces and tie meat cuts by hand, using boning knife, skewer and twine, as needed. They trim and arrange the meat economically and attractively, and display the meat in display cases. They ensure that temperature logs are filled out throughout the day. They inform customers regarding the content and types of product available including bulk meat packages.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses
High school diploma AND some years of experience in retail
Experience
In meat cutting and wrapping
In meat department operations
In merchandising of meat products, an asset
Competencies
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
English Essential

This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.
Perform heavy lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing (i.e. 50 lbs / 23kg or more)
