Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager of Community and Student Affairs, the Student Support Lab Coach is responsible for meeting with students in one-on-one or small group settings to assist with reviewing and identifying approaches to success in specific courses. The coach provides both in-person and virtual support to students and collaborates with the Pembroke Library staff to foster student success.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum four (4) year degree in Education or TESL certificate (English/Math Undergraduate Degree preferred);
  • Minimum of three (3) years Coaching or ESL experience to help learners operate more effectively in English and Math ;
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills; Computer skills; Facilitation skills;
  • Strong communication skills (listening, oral and written);
  • Comfortable with coaching learners;
  • Detailed knowledge of APA citation and reference style;
  • Flexible and responsive in fluid situations;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Highly organized;
  • Proficient in editing and coaching individuals with their writing samples;
  • Able to provide coaching in a variety of math concepts and science examples;
  • Able to coach and communicate with learners about their current study habits and techniques .

Anticipated Weekly Schedule:

  • Schedule is flexible and will be determined upon hire.

This position requires regular on-site work at Algonquin College’s Pembroke Campus: On-campus (Pembroke Campus), face-to-face with some need for virtual depending on students’ preference.
