Rehabilitation-Physiotherapy Assistant

We are recruiting for a Rehabilitation-Physiotherapy Assistant. This is a full-time position.

Tthe Rehabilitation-Physiotherapy Assistant delivers goal-oriented therapeutic programs to long-term care residents at Miramichi Lodge. These programs enable residents to maintain or improve functional and cognitive capacities in all aspects of daily living, to the extent of their abilities.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinates referrals for assessment in a timely manner
• Assists in identifying the educational needs of the department
• Actively participates in workshops educational programs and new staff orientation
• Uses a holistic approach to identify resident needs, asssist with resident dining, assists with transporting and transferring residents
• Provides education to residents, families and members of the multidisciplinary team
• Establishes and maintains effective communications between the therapist, resident and family
• Organizes a documents all relevant information of resident goals, progress, and outcomes
• Coordinates the employee back care program
• Coordinates appointments and accompanies the therapist during resident assessment and treatment, ensuring required follow up and implementation of prescribed programs
• Requisitions supplies, monitors expenditures and maintains an inventory of rehabilitation equipment and resources
• Identifies all mobility devices and rehabilitation equipment requiring repair or adjustments and initiates action

Complete Job Description

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Completion of the occupational therapist assistant, physiotherapist assistant course or equivalent from a community college
• Certificate in a food safety awareness program recognized by a public health unit
• Experience in a long-term care setting is an asset
• Enthusiastic and energetic leadership skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• An ability to work with others in a team approach in a changing work environment
• Demonstrated regular attendance
• Meet and maintain health requirement standards as per long-term care legislation
• Computer literacy
